Let me introduce you to one of my favorite Japanese restaurants (Tapas Lounge) in the world. Hidden behind the dark wooden panels in place of windows, Bozu is as out of the ordinary as its menu and appearance. For years I wondered what was hidden behind those wooden panels as I strolled in and out of Larry Lawrence bar (where I use to DJ) located directly across the street–until one day I decided to take a peek inside.
As a huge fan of Sushi, I was excited to have thought I discovered a new sushi restaurant. However, as I checked the little menu I found none of my favorite Sushi selections or rolls. Instead I found unconventional Bombs and other great tasting hot and cold dishes, fresh fruit cocktails and delicious Japanese beers (Hitachino).
I fell so much in love with Bozo’s Fried Chicken that the staff knows to add it to my order whenever I come in to eat. In fact, my 1st year or so coming in, I’d get a big cheer from the staff shouting “Fried Chicken!” whenever I walked in the door. It was always funny to see the faces of other customers who didn’t understand why the staff was shouting “Fried Chicken!” at the black guy walking in.
