Derwynn Matthews ask visitors and residents why they like Williamsburg NY.
I was downloading video on Youtube and decide to search keyword “Williamsburg, NY” while killing time and here’s a sample of what I found. I knew people like to use the term “Hipster” when talking about Williamsburg but I was a little surprised how widely the term was used.
I also took a little time to read some of the (sometimes sad or funny) comments and found there’s a lot of hate filled people that spend their time spewing their rage in the comment sections. Anyway, I pulled a variety of videos that I found interesting, for one reason or another.

Musik Read & King Julia of Fifth Nation
I ran into the members a new group on Bedford Ave who recently arrived in Williamsburg to do their thing. They’re called Fifth Nation. They were enjoying a snack but gave me a second to pose for a few photos. Member Musik Read shares his apple with co-member of the group King Julia. They promised me a chance to hear their music and bless me with an interview for the PEOPLE section of WNB. I look forward to sharing their story with you soon.
KIMCHI TACO TRUCK
When I first tried Phil Lee’s Kimchi Taco Truck, I wasn’t really hungry. I just got off the train having eaten about 1 hour prior to seeing this new truck sitting on Bedford Ave with the words “Kimchi Taco” written on it.
I’m thinking, “I love Kimchi and I love Tacos.” I continued to walk on by because my stomach was telling me I’m not hungry but then my mind said, “It’s new, why don’t you try it.” I turned around, went to the counter and said, “I don’t know what to order so make me whatever you think I’ll like as a first timer, in Chicken please.”
Ever since that day, I’d ride my bike up to Bedford Ave looking for this truck. I found myself looking nearly every other day but couldn’t find it. It wasn’t until later after I asked, “when are you guys out here, what’s your schedule’” was when I found out they’re only in Williamsburg on Wednesdays from 5pm – 9pm or until they sell out of food. I know they sell out too because the day I asked for the schedule it was about 8:30pm and they were out of food.
Needless to say I’m waiting for Wednesdays to come around now. I tell my wife not to bother cooking or making dinner plans for me because I’m having Kimchi Taco Truck.
If you’re not in Williamsburg on Wednesdays, the Kimchi Taco Truck is out making rounds in other parts of the city too. Go to the website to find out the where and when.
